25,000 CONGREGATE FOR SARAPEROS VICTORY PARADE

The Mexican League champion Saltillo Saraperos were feted with a victory parade in downtown Saltillo two days after closing out their Bicentennial Series win at home against the Puebla Pericos, copping the series, 4 games to 1.

An estimated 25,000 people braved the rain to cheer their heroes. The parade began at 6:00PM local time on Avenidas Universitario, where Saraperos players and coaches disembarked from a bus and began strolling the streets of the Coahuila capital city of 600,000. As the entourage made their way along the 10-kilometer route, the streets became paralyzed with traffic as fans sought to get a closer look (and autographs) from the two-time champions.

Following the parade, the team was given a reception at the Plaza de Ciudad Hermanos, where over 4,000 people intermingled and celebrated with players, among whom pitcher Travis Minix and outfielder Jesus Cota were noticed dancing with fans as the postseason party lasted well into the nighttime hours.
