MEX PAC SEASON TO OPEN TUESDAY

The Mexican Pacific League is set to open its 53rd season Tuesday with the front ends of four home-and-away sets.

The defending champion Hermosillo Naranjeros will send Australian Travis Blackley to the mound in Mexicali as they square off against Andy Sisco and the Aguilas. Walter Silva will get the start for Mazatlan as the Venados travel to Culiacan to face Hector Daniel Rodriguez and the Tomateros. Guasave is on the road in Los Mochis Tuesday night, as the Algodoneros send out Japanese import Mac Suzuki against Dan Serafini and the Caneros. In Obregon, the Yaquis will open with Luis Mendoza against the visiting Navojoa Mayos and starter Alejandro Armenta. After Tuesday night, each opening matchup will move to the other city Wednesday.

The regular season will conclude December 30, and the winner of January’s playoffs will represent Mexico in the 2011 Caribbean Series at Mayaguez, Puerto Rico in February.
